Advantages of gypsum cardboard

Technologies of mounting
Despite all advantages of gypsum cardboard, not all want to deal with it. Need of mounting metal of profiles frightens by complexity and multistaging of works. But though this type of fixture is considered classical and correct, except it there are also other technology solutions.
So, some of four ways can mount gypsum cardboard:
- By glue method directly on wall;
- On plaster framework;
- On rack basis;
- By means of metal sections.
Glue mounting mode
It is ideal for finishing of the walls having almost plain surface. This fact will easily be checked by means of construction level.
Advantages of this method are indisputable:
- Durability of walls to any physical impacts increases;
- The free space is minimum spent;
- Speed of works increases.
- Simpler mounting in comparison with other methods.
It is possible to fix gypsum cardboard by means of glue, mastic or suitable construction mix with high rates of adhesion.
Among the recommended materials it is possible to note:
- Ceresite CM 11;
HL mount in chessboard order therefore it is worth adhering to the following sequence of works:
- Marking of walls with designation of edges and the middle of each leaf;
- Primer of walls;
- Preparation of sheets of gypsum cardboard – scrap it agrees to the marks made on wall;
- Glue preparation;
- Putting glue on wall;
- Gluing of sheets.
It is worth specifying that after primer it is necessary to sustain necessary time for full drying of structure – usually from 12 to 24 hours. It is also important to remember that glue solutions should be spent as fast as possible therefore dissolve glue just before work and use it in full.
Mounting on plaster or timber frame construction
The plaster basis for fastening of sheets of material is convenient if there is only the minimum difference at the wall plane. The framework is made of pieces of HL which width is 60-80 mm. Plaster rails mount on walls by means of glued or screw joint, and on this the foundation is laid by sheets of the chosen material.
HL on wooden blank are similarly mounted.
Installation on profiles
This type of mounting gypsum cardboard of sheets gives to masters great opportunity for implementation of the most different ideas in registration of interior. Besides, the frame method allows to create false walls in any convenient location and to use at the same time additional insulation layers.
Fastening gypsum cardboard of sheets is carried out by means of metal sections from which enjoy the greatest popularity:
- Rack profile. Has the With-shaped form and it is used usually at production of partitions and during the facing works;
- The profile directing. Has the P-shaped form and it is necessary for creation of partitions and when finishing walls.
- Ceiling profile. It is required for creation of framework of false ceiling.
- The ceiling directing profile. Is suitable for installation works of ceiling frameworks and as vertical profile for walls.
Fastening gypsum cardboard of sheets means certain sequence of stages.
Stage first: marking of walls. At first the space from working wall to the GKL external level is noted. Usually this size is equal to 200 mm – the most convenient distance for alignment of surface, for distribution and conclusion of wires under sockets and switches and also for forming of insulation layers in case of such need. This space is noted on all perimeter: ceiling, wall, floor, the second wall. Professional builders recommend to use elastic rubber tape for sound insulation of structural noise – paste it on surface of the bearing profiles.
Stage third: insulation course. If there is need, then prior to direct fastening of HL the space between profiles is filled with blocks of the isolating material – polyfoam or mineral wool boards.
Stage fourth: preparation of sheets. Gypsum cardboard sheets are cut on blocks according to marking. If necessary on them do openings under sockets or switches by means of the electrofret saw or hacksaw.
Stage fifth: mounting of HL. Sheets fasten by means of self-tapping screws on metal to profile, at the same time the step has to be no more than 25 cm. It is considered correct when the self-tapping screw is drowned in leaf surface on 1-2 mm. During the work it is important to adhere to chess arrangement of sheets on wall and to watch discrepancy of seams.
Stage sixth: putty. These are necessary works when mounting gypsum cardboard. Putty allows to close joints and also provides dense contiguity of armoring lattice and protective corners which are established without fail on external corners and at will – on internal. At quality hard putty on wall traces reinforcing and fastening elements should not be noticeable by completion of works.
Stage seventh: finishing work.
Niches and regiments from gypsum cardboard
The convenience of HL is that already at stage of repair it is possible to create the regiments and niches which are perfectly supplementing interior and replacing bulky elements of furniture. In each case it is necessary to draw individually the desirable end result and at stage of marking to make necessary changes. During creation of framework accessory mounting of profiles and strengthening of rigidity of designs will be required.
