Originally and beautifully room walls where as finishing liquid wall-paper is used look. But, to receive really impressive result, it is necessary to get acquainted with this unusual and very convenient material closer.
What is liquid wall-paper
They are issued in the form of the dry mix similar to small sawdust or flakes including several components. Are part: glue basis, cellulose, cotton fibers, high-quality dyes. Sometimes the composition is supplemented by exotic components: mica, decorative straws, dry seaweed or crumb of wood bark. Color gamut is quite various, from cheerful and bright to business and strict. For bigger decorative effect, glamour addition in composition of gold or silver threads, nacre is possible. And if to connect packaging contents to elements of the processed silk, then finishing will resemble fabric, softer. The technology gives all opportunities for experiments with shades and half tones.
Having mixed packaging contents with normal water, and having brought to homogeneous state, we receive structure, ready to application, i.e. liquid wall-paper. The construction markets offer also the mix which is already prepared for use.
Liquid wall-paper can differ in structure of fibers and thickness of ready layer. The “volume” option can make 4-5 mm thick more often, and thin 2-3 mm. Drawing such wall-paper gives imagination scope. It is possible to create different textures and volume drawings on surface. After drying material forms rough impressive surface.
Pluses of finishing of walls liquid wall-paper
- Liquid wall-paper, thanks to honeycomb, “breathes” and also promotes saving of heat and has the soundproofing properties. Shrinkage of walls to such wall-paper is not terrible – they will not tear and are not deformed since the covering is elastic. Besides, it has antistatic properties, does not attract dust. Therefore, indoors there will be healthy microclimate. Environmental friendliness of material allows to apply it in children’s rooms without any fears.
- Simplicity of drawing liquid wall-paper attracts. They are quite plastic, faultlessly lay down on uneven surface which is not required to be puttied previously. Insignificant cracks and roughnesses are filled with mix when drawing. It concerns also slots in places of contiguity of plinths, platbands, frames and also sockets and switches. It is good to use them and for finishing of hard-to-reach spots. Great advantage in lack of joints and seams. Such wall-paper does not need adjustment of the drawing, as case with the materials assuming pasting.
- Interesting feature is that material can be used for the second time. The damaged part of covering is removed the palette from wall, is located in capacity and gets divorced water. After swelling wall-paper again can be applied on walls.
- Material is fireproof, does not extend flame and does not emit toxic substances. Has rather high colourfastness, practically does not burn out under the influence of sunshine. Forms the decorative coat from 1 to 10 mm thick pleasant and soft to the touch.
Minuses of liquid wall-paper
Powerful minus of wall-paper of a such type is that they quickly wash off. It, certainly, is good when there is a wish to remove them from wall, but it is inconvenient in operation. For giving to wall-paper of resistance to humidity, they are covered with protective layer of colourless lacquer. Such course will not damage to beauty of finishing, but will give the chance to wipe covering with wet fabric, without damaging it. Implementation of this procedure is necessary in rooms with the increased humidity (kitchen, the bathroom, toilet). But at the same time the ability of the material “breathe” is lost.
Design of wall-paper
Here the creative imagination and invention are limited to nothing. It is possible to use monophonic dye or to apply several paints. The contrast is interesting too. Unpredictability of the received shades induces to the invention of new color schemes. But it is possible to subject to changes not only color, and and surface relief. If to put on use the palette with rough edges, then it is possible to gain effect of waves, the strips located horizontally or vertically. Perfectly various ornaments and drawings look.
It is possible to trim with liquid wall-paper only one wall indoors and to allocate it, having issued the drawing. At the same time it will be very original to look it. The inexhaustible color palette allows to create individual, unique design of any interior.
As the drawing is put
At first contours of the conceived drawing represent marker or pencil on wall. Further on lines put liquid wall-paper, from the center to edges. During the day the drawing has to dry up. The parts of material going beyond contours by means of the rubber palette move to the center. Unnecessary parts of the drawing delete with knife. On the turned-out drawing paste painting tape, and are engaged in putting material on the following fragment. Once you notice, very fascinating occupation, not such difficult, seems at first sight.
Preparation of walls under liquid wall-paper
Preparation of walls under liquid wall-paper is carried out so that the monotone of surface of walls has been provided. It distinguishes this material from decorative plaster where the main condition – surface evenness. Here some small defects are admissible. In case with liquid wall-paper when coloring of surface under drawing is heterogeneous, undesirable shades through finishing can appear.
Considering considerable cost, for the purpose of material economy, it is desirable to level wall as it is possible better. In places of hollows the bigger consumption of mix will turn out considerably. Alignment by liquid wall-paper only of sites with differences no more than 2-3 mm is recommended. To prepare wall at which surface there can be fragments of old wall-paper paints, glue, putties it is necessary so that afterwards through liquid wall-paper yellow spots or stains of rust from armature have not appeared. First of all from walls all above-mentioned remains are removed.
The concrete or brick wall needs to be puttied plaster blend, having at the same time leveled surface, to ground front primer in two layers and to cover with aqueous emulsion ink (twice) for giving of whiteness. So becomes if on wall there are no speakers armature elements. If they are, then aqueous emulsion ink will not cope with rust. It is necessary to use oil paint. The surface prepared for drawing wall-paper has to be absolutely white, not have gleams or spots. For better result of coloring add glue to aqueous emulsion ink.
If the wall weak, is showered, then it is necessary to apply the strengthening soil. At alignment of walls gypsum cardboard is quite often puttied plaster blends only by joints. It is inadmissible at the subsequent finishing by liquid wall-paper. The matter is that putty – strongly absorbing material, and therefore, when drawing wall-paper of a such type, especially light tones, manifestation of these white places of joints is possible. Hats of self-tapping screws can also become the reason of formation of spots on wall-paper. Proceeding from it, it is necessary to putty all gypsum cardboard surface. After drying coloring by white aqueous emulsion ink to which it is recommended to add glue (3:1) for additional strengthening of putty is also required.
For preparation of wooden surfaces (MDF, plywood, fibreboard) use primer in 2-3 layers. After which drying, the wall is painted, for giving of background, aqueous emulsion or oil paint.
Basic rules of drawing liquid wall-paper
Technology drawing such wall-paper requires white color of surface of walls or corresponding to tone of mix. Only at observance of this condition it is possible to receive extremely saturated colors.
For production of working solution of the necessary consistence in net capacity pour out packaging contents, then add water (a little less, than it is offered the instruction) room temperature. It is necessary to stir very carefully mix, gradually adding water until solution is not brought to the consistence convenient for use. It is important to observe the recommendations made by the producer strictly. Too dense solution will try to keep step with the palette, and too liquid to flow down down wall. Ready mix is left for 10-15 min. for insisting. To make secure against color differences, it is better to use one solution for all walls of the room. Storage of the ready mix tightened polyethylene or covered within 5 days is possible.
Mix is applied on wall plastic with spatula or use special gun. Evenly distributing liquid wall-paper on surface, not to press important strongly on the palette, otherwise there can be material tightening owing to what the impressive covering will not turn out. At very weak pressing the formed layer will be excessively thick. Standard thickness of such covering usually is 1-3 mm.
That there were no visible joints, it is necessary to apply material from corner to corner, i.e. on each of walls, for once. Air temperature indoors during operating time with liquid wall-paper has to be higher than +10 degrees. The put wall-paper dries within 2-3 days. A lot of things depend on humidity and temperature here. At the same time the room needs to be aired well that the moisture evaporating from covering left.
Liquid wall-paper in interior
Liquid wall-paper is capable to decorate any room. Most often they are used in the living room. Excellently the contrast combination of light and dark tones looks. Addition in material of small spangles or decorative threads will give to interior magnificent and elegant view.
Wall-paper containing the processed silk in the structure will be ideal for the bedroom. The smart color gamma forces to become puzzled, but nevertheless it is better to choose quiet, pacifying light blue, greenish, light-beige tone. It is desirable to choose the color which is in harmony with home decoration.
Liquid wall-paper – find for the children’s room. The wall ornamented by the little painter can be put with ease in order, at any time having removed the damaged fragment of finishing and having put new. If to speak about color, then there are no restrictions. It is better if it is homogeneous and pleasant to eye. And it is possible to recover the nursery, using stickers or drawings.
Liquid wall-paper of the last generation, more expensive, with success it is possible to use in the bathroom. The natural fillers which are part of this material perfectly adsorb moisture therefore it is possible to forget about drops on tile and the misted mirror. Strictly following technology of drawing such finishing and having provided the correct ventilation, we receive result at which moisture does not accumulate, and evaporation happens in the natural way. At the same time in the bathroom there will be no fungus, and indoor air always fresh.
Care of liquid wall-paper consists in that about two times a month to vacuum them. Insignificant pollution without effort can be removed with eraser. And the bothered wall-paper can be replaced easily. It is only necessary to remove them from wall, to soak, by means of decorative additives to give fresh shade, and again to put, having received absolutely other interior.
